Hey Penangites, this weekend, several main roads in Penang will be closed to make way for the Silver Chariot and Golden Chariot procession in conjunction with Thaipusam 2023. Thus, we’ve listed down the full list of road closures so you can start planning your journey ahead.
Several Main Roads In Penang Will Be Closed This Thaipusam Weekend 2023
On the 4th of February 2023, the procession of the Golden Chariot will begin at 6.30 am from Lebuh Queen while the Silver Chariot will begin at 7.30 am, from Lebuh Penang. Both chariots will be making their way to the Penang Waterfall Temple.

On the 6th of February 2023, the Golden Chariot will make its way back to Lebuh Queen at 6PM, while the Silver Chariot procession heading to Lebuh Penang will commence at 7PM.

1,250 police personnel will be deployed, according to Penang State police chief Datuk Mohad Shuhaily Mohd Zain to ensure a smooth Thaipusam celebration as a total of 1.5 million visitors are expected this weekend.
