- Penang is now a red zone state after all 5 of its districts recorded over 41 cases in the past 2 weeks.
As of 3rd January 2021, all 5 districts in Penang have officially become red zones. In other words, Penang is now a red zone state.
Penang Is Now A Red Zone State
In brief, a red zone is when a sub-district reports 41 cases and more in a span of 14 days. 21-40 cases would be an orange zone, whereas 1-20 cases would be a yellow zone. Of course, if there are 0 cases, the sub-district would be a green zone.
However, with 103 new cases reported on 3rd January 2021, this has turned all districts in Penang into red zones. The Seberang Perai Utara was the state’s sole orange zone and after recording an additional 20 cases, the district turned red on 3rd January 2021.
2nd January 2021: Seberang Perai Utara (orange zone)
3rd January 2021: Seberang Perai Utara (red zone, +20 new cases)
990 Active Cases In Penang As Of 4th January 2021
Currently, as of 4th January 2021, there are 990 active cases in Penang; Timur Laut (343), Barat Daya (336), Seberang Perai Utara (55), Seberang Perai Tengah (58) and Seberang Perai Selatan (198).
