Everyone agrees that parking has always been an issue here in Penang. Whether it’s in town, the hospital, the airport, or even your nearby local coffee shop, finding parking is always a hassle. Hence, here comes another exciting news for Penangites – the long-anticipated multi-storey car park at Penang International Airport (PIA) is finally available to the public!
Penang International Airport (PIA) New Multi-Storey Car Park Begins Operations On 1 April 2023
Effective on 1 April 2023, the new multi-storey car park at PIA begins operations after obtaining the certificate of completion and compliance (CCC) from the relevant authorities. This means that there will be more parking spaces available for travellers who are travelling from Penang!
The Seven-Storey Car Park Provides 1,742 Parking Bays
According to Bernama, the newly-constructed car park is a seven-storey building that is able to provide 1,742 parking bays. This includes 22 bays for the disabled, as well as 660 bays for motorcycles!
Automatic Plate Number Recognition And Car Finder Application Kiosk
In addition, the multi-storey car park is equipped with automatic plate number recognition and car finder application kiosk. These facilities will be able to help users easily locate their cars. Payment is available via both cash and cashless methods, ie. debit/credit cards.
Looking Forward To Penang International Airport’s Future Expansion Plans
Hopefully, the new car park will be able to improve parking problems and traffic congestion at PIA. Of course, we also look forward to the airport’s future expansion plans that aim to bring more convenience to both travellers and Penangites!
