This Sunday (Jan 8), several roads including both the Penang Bridge and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge will be temporarily closed for the Penang Fellowship Ride.
Temporary Shutdowns Of Several Roads For The Penang Fellowship Ride On 8th January (Sun)
The cycling event will be covering a total distance of 66 kilometres. Thus, temporary shutdowns of several roads involved will occur in stages from 6.30am to 1pm.
The Penang Fellowship Ride is an event organised by the state government in collaboration with G Club Penang Cyclists and the Penang Sports Council. It will start and end at Persiaran Bayan Indah 2, located at the opposite of Queens Waterfront.
This cycling event will involve both the Penang Bridge and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge. Temporary shutdowns of the one-way road will occur at certain times only to make way for cycling participants.
Closing Time For Penang Bridge And Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge

For the Penang Bridge leading from the island to Seberang Perai, closing time will start from 6.30am and end at 9am this Sunday. Temporary shutdown for the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge from Batu Kawan to Batu Maung will be happening from 9 am to noon instead.
The Penang Fellowship Ride Will Involve 2,500 Participants
According to Bernama, the Penang Fellowship Ride will be involving 2,500 participants. This includes foreign participants from Singapore, Australia and Japan. In addition, Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak will also participate in the cycling event.
Penangites, please keep in mind about the closing time for these roads to avoid any delay in your schedules this upcoming Sunday. As for those who are participating in the Fellowship Ride, remember to stay safe, be careful and have fun!
