TL;DR
- Night markets in all states undergoing MCO can now resume operations
- Operating hours are 4PM – 10PM
- Stalls can start operating as early as today, following necessary SOPs
Night Markets Can Now Operate During MCO
The National Security Council has included night markets amongst the businesses that are allowed to operate during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in its updated standard operating procedures (SOP). It also stated that night markets are able to operate from 4 PM to 10 PM. This follows after the update on operating hours to 10 PM for businesses permitted to operate during MCO yesterday.
According to the Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pasar Malam Kuala Lumpur (PMKL), all night market traders are allowed to operate their stalls, except clothing stalls. Besides that, only pre-approved night markets that have gotten permission beforehand to operate during CMCO are able to operate during MCO.
Stay Safe & Maintain Social Distancing When Out
This may be good news for night market traders who have not been permitted to operate since start of MCO 2.0. For everyone else, do remember to only head out for necessities only. Always maintain a distance with other shoppers and never remove your masks while out and about. Stay safe, folks!
