Have you ever wondered where to find authentic ice drip coffee in Penang? We got you covered in today’s review. It was our first-time visit to Mellowcup Cafe at Jalan Gottlieb. And we must admit, it’s such a shame we didn’t include them in our best cafe in Penang’s list.
Mellowcup Cafe Penang
Mellowcup Coffee is a little cafe which situated at Jalan Gottlieb, right opposite Peng Hwa High School. When we first entered, it welcomes us with refreshing coffee’s fragrant and wonderfully cozy interior setting. It is really a great place to spend our lovely Saturday at this cafe. We enjoyed it thank to the great coffee and food served here.
Mellowcup’s Food
When it comes to food, Mellowcup has a lot to offer. Expect yourself to see coffee, tea, spaghetti, bento, dessert and more in the menu. We ordered carbonara spaghetti, coffee, and Affogato during our visit.
Carbonara with Hot Spring Egg
Carbonara is always my favourite! Mellowcup’s carbonara (RM21.80) is really awesome. It’s hard for us not to compare it with one of the best carbonara place is Penang – Cozy in the Rocket, which closed down recently. Frankly speaking, both are equally good. If you are carbonara lover, don’t leave without ordering it.
Herbs in Ocean

When we going through the menu, the name Herbs in Ocean(RM28.80) caught our attention. Thus, we ordered it and found out it didn’t disappoint. I love how the chef handles this spaghetti, the tomato sauce is well done, and I can taste the freshness and awesomeness of the seafood (prawn, squid and mussel).

What is this incredibly-refreshingly, lightly-sweetened coffee drink that we crave every? It’s coffee that has been cold-brewed with roasted grounded coffee for 12 to 16 hours and sweetened with sugar. Mellowcup’s Ice Drip Coffee (RM18.00) is really good! This is highly recommended to coffee connoisseur if you wish to taste the coffee in its purest and fullest form in a cup of ice drip coffee.

The wine without alcohol
Interestingly, the cafe uses Blooms (coffee blend), the innovation by famous TVB Actor Moses Chan. In case you didn’t know, he is a coffee enthusiast. His TV program introduces coffee from the basic to the complex, from the farm to the cafe.

To end our meal, we got ourselves an affogato (RM14.00). You get to pick chocolate or caramel sauce to pair with the affogato.
