Ever since we had to battle the global pandemic of COVID-19, a new norm is being put in place. A physical distancing of at least 1 meter is required and face masks are mandatory in public. This simply means that the usage and disposal of face masks are on the surge too. With this said, we need to ask, are you guys discarding used face masks in the right manner?
Here’s How To Properly Dispose Of Used Face Masks
Most of us would already know the right manner to properly discard used face masks, right? Well, as a friendly reminder, here’s how you should do it:
- After taking the mask off, fold it half inwards, such that droplets from the mouth and nose are not exposed.
- Then, fold the mask into another half, until it looks like a roll.
- The mask can also be wrapped with its ear loops so that it will not unravel.
However, here’s the ugly side of things: used face masks are disposed of and littered along the streets irresponsibly. And as a result of this, MBPP is now urging Penangites to properly discard used face masks by taking this issue to its official Facebook page.
Several photos of our yellow-shirt heroes cleaning up used face masks along the streets of Penang were posted. The caption of these photos read: Do not litter used face masks along the streets or into the drains but instead properly discard them into litter bins.
Let’s Do Our Part
So, once again, on behalf of MBPP, let’s not trouble others and practise a sense of responsibility.
