Hello, everyone! It’s already been a few weeks since the start of MCO and the government has been implementing new rules and ways to control the Coronavirus. But it seems that Covid-19 cases are still peaking each day. With the worry of running out of hospital beds and resources, the Ministry of Health is now building a temporary hospital at MAEPS with 600 beds.
Turning MAEPS Into A Temporary Hospital With 600 Beds
The Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) is the largest indoor exhibition venue in Malaysia. It normally holds exhibitions and meetings in the agrotourism field. But, with the likelihood of the third wave of Coronavirus hitting Malaysia, MAEPS is now turning into a temporary hospital. Moreover, it can accommodate 600 hospital beds to prepare for the worst!
Just a few days ago, the Director-General of Health Malaysia, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah made an announcement to build a temporary hospital. In a blink of just three days, the temporary hospital at MAEPS is already at its final stages of completion, where Hall A accommodates 400 beds and Hall B with 200 beds. This brings the total number of hospital beds in the country to battle the COVID-19 outbreak to 5,892!
A Place To Act As Quarantine And Treatment Centre
With many people wondering when MAEPS will start to receive patients, this temporary hospital actually will only open when necessary. That is when the new cases of Covid-19 are too much for hospitals to handle. However, it’s also worth mentioning that this temporary hospital will only accommodate Covid-19 patients with no or mild symptoms. In the case of moderate or critical cases, these patients will be treated in hospitals.
Lastly, we would like to say it’s been a tough time. From the introduction of MCO to building temporary hospitals, the numbers of new cases have seemed to stabilise at around 150 cases each day.
