Barber Shops Given Green Light To Reopen Starting June 10

with markets and bazaars allowed to operate from June 15

We are here to bring you the good news! For the guys out there, sick of putting your hair up in bun? And ladies, missing the hospitality and fragrant hair treatments you can only get at the salons? The government has heard your cries! In the daily press conference today, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said barbers, hairdressers and beauty services will be allowed to reopen from June 10 onwards. For our Foodies, morning and night markets, along with bazaars in Malaysia will also be allowed to operate starting June 15.

Here’s What You Need To Know

Starting June 10, services allowed at beauty services and barbershops will include:

  • Basic haircuts
  • Hair washes
  • Shaving services
  • Hair treatments
  • Manicures
  • Pedicures
  • Facial treatments

According to the standard operating procedure (SOP), those aged 60 and above are required to set up appointments, with the service carried out with no one else present.

Morning Markets, Night Markets & Bazaars To Reopen From June 15

There’s not a better hangout spot with a handful of friends than to dive into the pasar malam culture at Malaysia’s night markets! With the green light given for markets and bazaars to operate starting June 15, all businesses are required to adhere to strict SOPs.

  • Only takeaways are allowed.
  • All markets will have only one entrance and exit.
  • Temperatures will be taken before entering.
  • Both traders and visitors are encouraged to download the MySejahtera app.
  • Vendors are required to set up in an open and fenced area, maintaining a distance of 1.5m to 2m.
