PENANGITES and visitors can look forward to much excitement and joy at the Karnival ❤️ Penang, scheduled to take place at the Esplanade on Jan 7 next year.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the carnival was part of the LovePENANG campaign which was launched in June this year.
“The LovePENANG campaign urges people to reclaim their lives after the challenging Covid-19 period. The campaign is a call to action, to come together, rebuild and move forward for a brighter future.
“As for the Karnival ❤️ Penang, many activities and programmes have been lined up to keep the crowd engaged and entertained.
“The carnival will be held from 4pm to 11pm. Local and international artistes such as Datuk David Arumugam, Acidic Bunch, Jaclyn Victor, Faizal Tahir, PongPong, Santesh and Shawn Lee will be performing during the event.
“We also have performances by Euphoria Penang and Wak Long Music & Art Centre for arts and heritage lovers,” he told a media conference in Komtar today.
Chow added that there would also be food trucks selling local delicacies during the carnival.
Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan estimated a crowd of about 30,000 to 50,000 people.
