Recently, Penang has been recording a surge of COVID-19 cases on a daily basis. Every day, new cases hit over 100 and this situation is indeed worrying. Just hours ago, Jelutong Market has been closed for sanitization works.
Jelutong Market Is Now Closed Until Further Notice
According to the official notice released by Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang, Jelutong Market has to be immediately closed down following a record of 4 positive cases. These cases involve hawkers operating in the market.
This closure is to make way for sanitization works from today, 17th May onwards until further notice. Additionally, this will involve 60 stalls in Jelutong Market, 186 morning hawker stalls along Jalan Penaga/ Lorong Ipoh as well as 32 evening and night hawker stalls.
Stay Safe And Stay Home
Furthermore, the notice also included a word of caution to the public to adhere to the SOPs. It is now time we take care of ourselves and stay home unless necessary. Stay safe and take good care of yourselves, Penangites.
