Perak-Based Non-Profit Organisation Struggles To Continue Providing Meals For Their Children During The Third Wave Lockdown

We are blessed with many kind souls putting in the effort to relieve the burden during this trying time. The same goes for this non-profit organisation. For the past 13 years and hopefully in the future as well, Hope Mission Welfare Society aims to serve underprivileged children as “every child deserves a better tomorrow”.

Based in Teluk Intan (Perak), the Home Mission Welfare Society was officially established in 2009. It all started when Pr Johnathan Mutha and his wife, Sasikala helped three children back in 2008. That was when the ‘Hope Mission Home’ programme kicked off. They rented a house, provide shelter and basic necessities for the children. Moreover, their kindly act has been extended to over 450 children in their 12 years journey.

Challenges During Covid-19 Pandemic

We do not only want to provide protection from the pains of an empty stomach for our children, but also avoiding negative long-term consequences of food insecurity on their health and well-being,” says the management.

As you may already know, food insecurity and financial hardship are worsening in this current pandemic. There are households that do not have enough food for every family member – empty pantry and no money in the budget. Hence, this issue has become a major concern for the people at Home Mission Welfare Society as they are struggling to continue giving meals to the children under their care.
