Although most would drop by to pay a visit to the iconic Kuan Yim Temple or Kek Lok Si when in Penang, if you’d like a crowd-less visit, then we suggest visiting Hean Boo Thean.

Dedicated to Kuan Yin – the Goddess of Mercy, this temple is perched above the waters at Weld Quay, hence deemed the ‘floating temple’. Hean Boo Thean was first built back in 1972 on stilts but was later on strengthened and expanded in 2012 to last against the tides, at a cost of RM1.5 million.
