  • It starts from 18th to 31st March 2020.

Hello, Penang Lang! It’s been quite a week with the striking numbers of Coronavirus cases happening in Penang. From the first to the current update of 23 cases, many stores and malls have taken cautious actions in an effort to prevent the spreading of the Coronavirus. This includes our waterfront shopping mall, Gurney Plaza. Starting from 18th to 31st March, only essential services and restaurants will open!

Gurney Plaza Mall Opens For Essential Services And Takeaway

To Penangites, Gurney Plaza Mall has been a part of their childhood memories. With more than 380 stores and 50 restaurants, it’s one of those malls that takes a few hours to wander around. Not to mention the waterfront walkway that we always take a stroll with our family. However, in response of the Coronavirus outbreak, Gurney Plaza Mall will only open for essential services and restaurants.

If you’re wondering what these essential services are, they are mostly pharmacies, personal care stores and mobile telecommunication providers. So if you’re running out of soaps or hand sanitisers, it’s a good choice to pop up to Gurney Plaza for them. Aside from that, restaurants will also be operating under delivery services or takeaway orders.

Same as the dates for our Movement Control Order, Gurney Plaza Mall will operate as usual with certain stores opening. So there’s no need to worry about running out of food or drinks to order, because you can still go to Gurney Plaza and order a takeaway. However, we still recommend you guys to stay indoors during this period! Anyways, we hope you all stay safe and see you in the next post!
