Celebrate this Chinese New Year with Gurney Plaza as we transform our Centre Atrium into the illuminating streets of Shanghai. Welcoming the traditional essence of the city, mesmerizing and colourful neon signages will fill the heart of Gurney Plaza; taking shoppers back to the year 1920. With the aim to highlight the unique glamour the oriental city has to offer, upon entering, shoppers will be greeted by a 12 ft interactive and conventional tram, situated along its track on the urban streets. Beside it, on a picturesque platform with a mixture of signages as a backdrop, rests a pulled rickshaw looking out towards a pink-coloured diner; decorated with glowing neon colours in shapes of Chinese food. To top off the many Instagrammable and photo-opportunity landmarks, a luxurious boutique located opposite the diner provides shoppers a chance to browse through a wide range of attires fit for the occasion.
In addition, shoppers can indulge themselves in the Spring Festival, with beautifully decorated walkway with an extensive collection of spring flowers at the Extension Wing Walkway, Ground Floor on 7 – 23 January. A Spring Fair will also be available for shoppers, bringing you a wide selection of festive goodies and delicacies for this Lunar New Year. Participating brands includes YS Hamper, Eu Yan Sang, Jin Ye Ye, Yong Sheng Gift Shop, JDX, GG Design, Hei Hwang, Best Hamper and Soon Thye Hang. It’s happening from the 4 – 23 January.
Apart from just shopping, to put our fellow shoppers into the festive mood, Gurney Plaza is ecstatic to present a variety of performances and activities every weekend from 5 – 19 January 2020. To tie in with our theme, our Centre Atrium will host a Double LED Lion Dance Performance on the 5 January, 6pm, a Modern Chinese Orchestra Performance on the 11 & 18 January, 3pm and a beautiful Shanghai Night Dance Performance on the 12 January, 3pm.
Meanwhile, held at our Alfresco is a Double Acrobatic Lion Dance on the 11 January, 6pm and the Single Acrobatic Lion Dance on High Pole on the 12 January, 6pm. A Traditional Acrobatic Lion Dance on the 18 January, 6pm and a 24 Season Drums Performance on the 19 January, 6pm.
Gurney Plaza’s very own Chinese New Year Bazaar will also be returning for its second year; happening on the 19 January, 5pm – 10pm at our Green Wall area and Amphitheatre. On the other hand, a group of young and talented contestants will compete in the Chinese Traditional Orchestra Competition at our Extension Wing Atrium, Ground Floor on the 19 January, 12pm.
During this festive period, our fellow shoppers can also redeem several exclusive rewards and of course our specially designed Chinese New Year packets is ready for redemptions too.
