If there’s something Penangites love more than food, it’s to visit pop-up markets! The recent happenings of these markets have led us into a shopping frenzy and allowed us to meet many local indie sellers. Not to mention, we get to enjoy unique handcrafted food & beverage, arts & crafts, and music. Well, we have news for you, because you can experience all of these at the All-New Moondiri Market right inside Fort Cornwallis!
NEW Moondiri Market Happening Every Friday At Fort Cornwallis
There’s a NEW pop-up market in town! Located inside the largest standing fort in Malaysia, Moondiri Market presents the gathering of many talented local vendors, ranging from food to arts. Safe to say that everything here is handmade with love! It is the latest vibey spot in Penang, where you can just take a stroll with your close ones under the moonlight.
And since Christmas has just passed, you know what that means… New Year’s Eve is on the way! Come and experience a night like no other at Moondiri’s ‘Countdown With The Moon‘ event, where Penangites can come together to welcome 2024.
Here are what to look forward to at this event of the year!
Fireworks Show
It is not a countdown event without any fireworks! Step into 2024 with a bang as you witness the extravagant fireworks show this December 30th at 11 pm and the countdown moment on December 31st.
Food & Beverage
1. Heath Homemade Ice Cream
This small stall is run by a nice lady who churns quality ice cream with cute and unique flavours. We tried her signature Cookie Monster (Cookies & Cream) and Acacia Honey, and it was delectable.
2. Sa.rai Lemongrass Drink
Located near the entrance, this stall serves thirst-quenching lemongrass drinks that come in 6 choices. Very refreshing to drink under the sun!
3. Brokula Healthy Pasta
Although there aren’t many main dish choices yet, this stall however caught our attention. Their ‘Spicy Inferno Carbonara Pasta’ with its creamy hot taste is the one to beat. We even asked the vendor to add on more chilli flakes for a spicier kick.
4. Matcha.Lah Matcha Drinks
Calling for all matcha lovers! This matcha shop never misses because all their matcha drinks are made using ceremonial-grade matcha powder. They also have unique concoctions using matcha, such as Matcha Lemonade, Sakura Ichigo (sakura, strawberry & matcha) and Matcha Lychee Fizz.
5. Cutie Meringue Cookies
These adorable cartoon meringue cookies make the perfect gifts. The meringue is actually infused with lemon juice, therefore it also gives off Vitamin C in every bite. The stall also sells cute festive block toys for you and your little ones to build together.
Jewellery & Crafts
The art stalls here are also worth mentioning with their intricate works and beautiful creations.
6. Cartoon Portraits
7. Rattan Woven Handicrafts
8. Jewellery & Earrings
9. Henna Art
Thrift Shop
There’s also a stand here that sells preloved clothes that are still in good shape. This jersey here is cute!
Music
There’s more! Sway with the music this upcoming 30 December performed by a lineup of talented local artists. Whether it’s acoustic, EDM or R&B, they have it all. Don’t forget to check out the schedules so you won’t miss out.
