Butterworth Fringe Festival 2018 is an event that Penangites can’t miss to have a fresh start for December! The backbone of this event are Seberang Perai Municipal Council with the full support of the Penang State Government, and in collaboration with Think City Sdn Bhd.
Butterworth Fringe Festival 2018 (BFF 2018)
BFF 2018 bring the street festival concept in conjunction with Butterworth Baharu Program initiative. The main objective of this festival is to preserve the city of Butterworth through arts, culture and heritage festivals. In order to make Butterworth as a hub for creative and innovative cultural events, there will be varieties of local and international performance that will be presented for FREE! How exciting is that?!

What To Expect at BFF 2018
Good news to all festival goers, there is a lot of activity that will be held during BFF 2018! 3 main stage of cultural attraction, about 7 fun activity will be there for 2 days and infinity fun experience for you to immerse in!
Main Stage
The main stage cover most of the jaw-dropping performance that will make you mesmerize the moment they enter the stage!
#1 Circo Pitanga
A pair of newlyweds from Switzerland that will deliver slapstick style commentary on marriage in the Nuptial Ropes! Part burlesque, part comedy, and a whole of an exciting circus element, this couple surely deliver the message and leave you with an unforgettable moment!

#2 Clap Clap Circo
Clap Clap Circo is a duo from Argentina who combines comedy with powerful circus skills. Their show ‘Gulp’ is a circus-theatre show full of physical comedy, hula-hoop, and juggling performance. Gulp is an original, fun and dynamic show for all kind of audiences.

Budaya Stage is all about local traditional performance that mainly consists of 3 race in Malaysia which is Malay, Chinese and Indian.
#1 Wak Long Music Group
Wak Long is the only Malay performing groups that are still performing to preserve the musical culture of Malay ethnic after more than two decades. Wak Long Music Group will hypnotize the audience with the soothing sounds of the Gamelan and others traditional percussion. Not to forget the Malay traditional dance such as Zapin, Inang and Joget!

#2 Angika Fine Arts
Get ready to mesmerized by the beautiful movement of Indian dancing performed by Angika Fine Arts. A dance performance that explores the changing roles of hands, from infancy to adulthood and then weaves the stories of artisans into a thought-provoking choreography to reflect the reality and fate of the traditional handicraft artisans of Butterworth, Jinn D Production collaborates with Leo Yap, Matt Tan, Nurulakmal Abdul Wahid and Tai Chun Wai to present a performance that transforms the memories and stories of old artisans into personalised vocabulary of movements.

#5 Gajen & Keren
One is dubbed as the angriest comedian and the other one is Malaysia’s first Chindian comedian, they will tickle your funny bone in ‘We Joke, Butterworth Laughs’. Keren Bala Devan rants about daily problems and trends while Gajen Nad delivers his witty observation on racial diversity, family upbringing and Gen-Y related stuff. Together they will bring down the house with laughter.

What if one day Malaysia culture disappear? How empty Malaysia would be? Claudia den Boer will express this possibility in ‘Silent Witness’ through photography. Silent Witness is a metaphor that workspace of an artisan witness the artisan’s work even though no one else does.
