Foodies, shortly after announcing Penang returning to its green zone status, the island has added a new COVID-19 case just yesterday. Lam Wah Ee Hospital confirmed that the latest COVID-19 patient had direct contact with 8 of its staff and they’re currently placed under closed monitoring. Following the latest update, Penang lost its green zone status as of yesterday.
Latest COVID-19 Patient Detected in Penang:
According to the statement released by Lam Wah Ee Hospital, the individual is a 89-year old male patient presented with acute acute gestroenteritis. He was triaged at A&E on September 5, 2020 and later found that he has Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The patient was immediately isolated at the decontamination negative pressure room and later transferred to General Hospital (GH).
On the bright side, there was no other patients during that time. Lam Wah Ee Hospital is in full compliance with KKM guidelines and immediate terminal disinfection of all affected areas were conducted in accordance with infection control guidelines.
8 of its staff were in direct contact with the patient and they have been put under closed monitoring with strict compliance to KKM health guidelines. Kudos to Lam Wah Ee Hospital for picking up the SARI case with minimal exposure to other patients and staff. To the staff, well done and we pray that all of you are safe.
