8 Best Cendol in Penang You Must Try:
1. Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul
We don’t even need to elaborate further when it comes to Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul. Literally everyone flocks this stall when it comes to first-time having cendol. Having a history of over 80years, they’ve come a long way. From a small pushcart to having multiple outlets even in Klang.
Still, you could find the original one tucked in Penang Road. You get your bowl of cendol in no time upon ordering. The flavors, the combination is there, though we thought portion is relatively small. It’s almost impossible to get a seat during peak hours or holidays. Standing by the roadside with a little sunbath while enjoying that bowl of cendol is part of the experience.

Also set in the same alley as the famous Penang Road Teochew Chendul, this stall is just right opposite it, being on the left of the entrance. We can smell strong competition here. Apparently, some say this one is better than the famous one, and are better supported by locals. We’ll leave the taste test to you guys, so try both out and let us know which is the best cendol in Penang.

3. Kulim Best Cendol
Friends and foodies in Kulim are no stranger to this cendol stall in Penang. Crowned as the best in Kulim, thus explains the name. Kulim Best Cendol serves this traditional delicacy just right opposite St. Anne’s Cathedral. You can either opt for pulut (glutinous rice) or without pulut. Their gula melaka is extremely fragrant, so be sure to request for less-sweet if it’s too overwhelming. Unlike some other stalls, their red bean texture is just right, firm and not mushy.

4. Tony’s Ice Kacang & Cendol
We consider this a hidden gem in the world of Penang’s Cendol. Set in the food court of a wet market, frequent market shoppers would know this. Thick and aromatic gula melaka, paired with an adequate amount of coconut milk. The flavors sunk into the shaved ice perfectly, and the toppings added texture. It’s the perfect desserts to beat the heat, especially after a tiring trip to Batu Lanchang market.

Set in Batu Ferringhi, Cendol Asli Pak Haji is just 2 minutes away from Double Tree Hotel. You can even get your cendul in a cup for better convenience. 6. Durian Haven
Apart from cendol, Penang also treasures the King of Fruits, durian. So what if cendol and durian both come together? Mind-blowing but oddly interesting. Durian Haven realizes this idea into reality, yes you can finally have durian cendol! The sweet, creamy durian paired with ice-cold, fragrant cendol, match made in heaven. We heard they use musang king and not other cheap durian for their desserts, so check them out.

7. Lebuh Noordin
“What isn’t this place for hokkien mee only?” Exactly what we first thought. Besides the famous, drool-worthy hokkien mee, they offer pretty good cendol in Penang as well. A bowl of fluffy shaved ice drenched in coconut milk and gula melaka (palm sugar), they’re so generous with their toppings. Your bowl of cendol is literally filled with starch noodles and kidney beans. Cendol with hokkien mee is definitely a win!

8. Kuih Culture
If you’re a long-time follower of Penang Foodie, you might have heard of Kuih Culture. We did a review on this, and we loved their cendol. What sets their cendol apart from the rest is their size. That’s right, they have dinasour cendol that is even bigger than editor’s face! With that size, some might be skeptical of its taste. The flavors and standards are definitely there, with firmer shaved ice and silkier finish. Don’t worry, you can opt for regular sized cendol as well.
