7 Events You Can Expect From Penang Coffee Festival 2019
The inaugural Penang Coffee Festival is slated to run from 20 September to 13 October 2019, spreading across different distinctive venues in Penang. Being one of the most highly anticipated events in Penang, it aims to bring together coffee lovers and provides a platform for all things coffee.
During the festival, you can enjoy, indulge and experience the different flavours and possibilities of coffee, as well as witness a showcase of coffee art by various renown baristas. Whether you are a beginner, coffee connoisseur, coffee geek, or key industry stakeholder, there will be something for you at the festival.
1. Penang Coffee & Desserts Festival 2019
If you have a sweet tooth and a penchant for coffee, head down to the Penang Coffee and Desserts Festival 2019. The event will be held for three days, starting from 20th September until 22nd September 2019 at Gurney Paragon Mall. They will bring you a great variety of coffee and desserts from some of Penang’s most popular cafes and restaurants.
Of course, there will be fun-filled and exciting competitions and workshops happening throughout the three-day event as well! Highlights include Coffee Painting Workshop, Tsum Tsum Icing Cookies Making Workshop, Latte Art Throwdown, live band performance and many more.

2. Boba Festival
The first-ever Boba Festival in Penang will be held in conjunction with Penang Coffee Festival! Bubble tea lovers can expect a vast variety of bubble milk tea options, boba-inspired food and desserts. Be sure to come and explore Penang’s thriving hip at Gurney Plaza on this 4th to 6th October 2019, only from 5 pm – 10 pm. If you’re a huge bubble tea fan, this event is made only for you!

3. The Coffee Lab
If you want to experience coffee on a more intimate level, The Coffee Lab programme features a comprehensive line-up of cutting-edge talks and interactive workshops from industry experts, targeted at baristas, café owners, coffee specialists and entrepreneurs.
Serious coffee lovers will also have the chance to witness avant-garde coffee art, gain the know-how on repairing a coffee machine as well as getting the top tips for setting up a café. You can register for your preferred workshops here.

4. When Coffee Meets Art
If you want to learn about the history and art of coffee, look no further. Take a nostalgic trip back in time to soak in the timeless heritage and culture of Penang, accompanied by meticulously selected classic coffee and pastries that Penangites take pride in at When Coffee Meets Art, happening in conjunction with Penang Coffee Festival.
Besides, the critically acclaimed caricature artist Azmi Hussin will also be making a special appearance at When Coffee Meets Art to draw a portrait of visitors with coffee. You will be surprised at how coffee could blend so seamlessly with art!

5. Coffee & Art Week
A meeting of two passions: coffee and art. Several activities with the elements of coffee and art will be held throughout the week in conjunction with the Penang Coffee Festival. Check out the Artisan Coffee Market that features 20 coffee roasters and baristas from local and ASEAN to showcase different hand brewing methods of coffee.
You can even grab custom-made merchandise ranging from ceramic coffee cups and tote bags for yourself or loved ones. Besides that, there is also a series of workshops lined up, like the Cupping Workshop, Hand Roasting Workshop, Coffee Filter DIY Workshop, and Little Barista Workshop.

6. Coffee & Reading Weekend
Coffee and reading are always perfect partners for a relaxing time, don’t you agree? So if you’re still wondering what to do during the weekend, go for the Coffee & Reading Festival! 7. Coffee Music Party (Closing Ceremony)
