1. Hei Hei Club
This club stands out compared to other clubs because of its unique Oriental theme. Even the waiters and waitresses are dressed according to the theme, in Cheongsam classic Oriental costumes! In addition, there’s also daily live band here and weekend dance performance as well. It’s one of the most trendy and unique clubs to visit right now in Penang and is also an awesome countdown spot.

2. Peace Club
The second club in Penang that will guarantee a memorable 2020 and CNY is Peace Club that’s located at Gurney Tower. The entrance fee is only RM50 and this comes with good music, a great atmosphere and an entire section dedicated to fun and games! Aside from that, you’ll also find the club plastered with lots of neon decorations, making them perfect for our Instagram.

3. Manchu

Count down to 2020 by taking a trip back to the Manchurian era, shall we? Manchu Penang transports us back to the Qing Dynasty with its interior and theme. Even the friendly waitresses here are clothed in classic, traditional Chinese costumes to be in line with the theme of the bar. When you’re here, do opt for the Five Omakase Cocktails in which the bartender will mix drinks according to your mood. As the entire place is really nostalgic, don’t forget to snap some countdown pics for your social media!

4. Magazine 63
Yet another perfect spot to countdown to New Year and CNY is none other than Magazine 63, which boasts a classic Chinese dynasty theme as well. This is indeed perfect for all of us to get into Chinese New Year mood. There’s also a pretty chill live band here to serenade you while you sip on your drinks and speaking about drinks, even the cups here date back to the Chinese dynasty.

5. Good Friends Never Bojio
The next spot on our list that’s perfect to ring in 2020 and CNY is this chill ambience bar in Georgetown. Good Friends Never Bojio serves unique cocktails whereby local traditional drinks such as 932 is infused with alcohol. Aside from that, the music here complements the entire atmosphere yet is not too overwhelming for some pretty good conversations with your friends. In our personal opinion, this is one of the best bars to visit.

6. Backdoor Bodega
Looking for a hidden bar to quietly welcome 2020? Then Backdoor Bodega might just be the right speakeasy bar for you. Locating the bar is no easy task too but look for the Backdoor logo as a key hint. Did we mention how much we love the unique cocktails here? Go for the Chrysanthemum Tea for a taste of their one-of-a-kind menu. This is the kind of bar that lets you chill while sipping on your drinks and truly enjoy the company around. Quality over quantity guys.

7. 1874 Cross Street Pub 慶豐棧酒吧
Since our previous listings include several Chinese dynasty themed bars, we’re not gonna stop here. 1874 is a new bar located at Bukit Mertajam and it is the epitome of retro. Aside from drinking from bowls like back in those days, there’s also a full-fledged area with a retro design that makes a great spot for photo-taking. Live band performances here create an awesome drinking experience. The ambience also makes it suitable for a countdown spot.

8. W Pub
When we hang out in a club, aside from the overall ambience and music, sometimes we just wish there’s like a game section for us to play it out with our friends right? And this is actually available in W Pub as there is an entire pool table here for you to kick off a game or two with your friends when you need a break from all those drinks. In addition to that, you can also sit back and relax on luxurious leather seats (that kind that you see on TV while they puff on some cigars, classy).

9. Starz Club
Starz Club is known for its great lighting which creates a happening atmosphere to countdown for special occasions. Also, the DJ line up here really gets you in the mood for some headbanging. If you enjoy a fun night out that has awesome music, awesome atmosphere and all that, then you can pay Starz Club a visit. From now till 2020, the DJ line up is already fixed so you can tell from this how much work they’ve done to ensure we welcome 2020 on the right note.

10. Rebel Penang
The last but definitely not the least countdown spot for New Year and CNY is this brand new club in Penang. Not to mention, they also have an impressive DJ line up on the days leading up to their opening such as DJ Soda, The Leng Sisters and many more. The theme of this new club revolves around a futuristic TRON-inspired Neon night club so while you’re there, you’re gonna be busy partying and taking some pics too.
