For the first time in 126-year of history, our iconic Penang ferries stopped their daily operation. Reported by The Star, Rapid Ferry head. Osman Amir said that four ferries that have been connecting the island and mainland daily will not be in operation due to technical reasons. This will continue until 26th August.

Free Transit Busses Are Provided As compensation

Understandably, regular passengers are enraged by this news. Thus to compensate for the inconvenience, Osman stated, “the Rapid Ferry had prepared 10 free transit buses from Penang Sentral on the mainland to Weld Quay terminal on the island and vice-versa with a frequency of 10 to 20mins,”. In addition, the Rapid Ferry apologized for their shortcomings as well. Thank you Rapid Ferry for the thoughtful alternative. In the meantime, let’s be patient friends and we can go back to our usual schedule before you know it.
