It is hard to start off a hot pot list without kicking it off with Haidilao. Located in Gurney Paragon, the hot pot restaurant was one of the most highly anticipated restaurant openings in Penang. Known for its amazing customer service, freebies, and multiple choices of broth all at once, it is definitely a must-visit at least once in your lifetime!

Here’s to another brand new opening. All the way from China, Xiao Long Kan has opened its first store in Penang. Taking over Wendy’s spot at Sunrise Tower, Xiao Long Kan is known for its mala hot pot. With Sichuan and Chongqing style, Xiao Long Kan will be a hit for spicy lovers. With a doll draped in meat slices, we are sure that the experience at this hot pot restaurant is like no other.

There will be a queue for Haidilao and Xiao Long Kan, and it is no different for Hong La Jiao. This famous hot pot spot has been operating for several years, and it is still going on strong. Known for its Szechuan spicy hot pot, Hong La Jiao has very comprehensive ingredients. Anything that you are craving for, this spot has it. We love the fact that we can create our very own sauces with so many condiments!

You will find common ingredients for hot pot, but many visitors noted that their slices are thicker in width. Some of the balls are homemade, too! Additionally, if you love everything about dishes, you will also need to try out porridge with deep-fried fish. Yums!

At Gia Xiang Steamboat Restaurant, it serves signature spicy broth, milky yam and fish broth, tomato broth, and others! Famous for its mala hot pot, you will taste the difference as it comprises of more than 60 ingredients. Apart from this, we love the fact that you will able to customise the spiciness and numbness based on your preferences!

If you would like to try out their offerings, be sure to be here as early as 6:00 p.m.! Choose a set, and you can add on when you’re done. Do take note that there’s no air conditioning available in this restaurant.
