Teh Tarik Sandwich, Locals’ Favourite Beverage-Turn-Ice Cream

Well, who would’ve thought that locals’ favourite drink is now a legit ice cream sandwich? When we mention Teh Tarik, it’s that cup of drink we order every time we’re at the Mamak. Or to some, it goes so well with our Roti Canai. There’s just something about this cup of staple Malaysian breakfast drink that has garnered a permanent spot in our hearts.

Teh Tarik is essentially a cup of hot milk tea beverage that’s pulled during preparation, hence the name. But we’re pretty sure everyone is already aware of this. So without further ado, let’s get into the ice cream version of locals’ favourite beverage, the Teh Tarik Sandwich.

Lipton Teh Tarik Sandwich

Teh Tarik Sandwich is the latest product released by the collab between Wall’s and Lipton. Lipton is renowned for producing high-quality tea sachets. And this is probably why the Teh Tarik Sandwich is our next favourite ice cream. The ice cream sandwich comes in a bright, iconic Lipton orange & yellow packaging.

Upon unwrapping, you’ll immediately notice on the sandwich that there are comic drawings. That’s not all, there are even two different comic drawings on both sides of the sandwich biscuit! As the saying goes, ‘two is always better than one’ right?

Well, aside from having two different comic drawings, the ice cream also has two halves of different flavours. One side is the milk-flavoured ice cream while the other is the tea-flavoured ice cream.

While the sandwich biscuit isn’t the usual crunchy texture, it goes pretty well with the ice cream in general. The very first bite onto the Teh Tarik Sandwich isn’t particularly bold, making it necessary to munch another bite. Overall, the Teh Tarik Sandwich is a pretty novel rendition from our favourite beverage and the rather mild taste may be a hit or miss to some.

We got our hands on the Teh Tarik Sandwich at a 7-Eleven outlet for RM 2.30 and we’re guessing you can probably get it from a majority of petrol stations too. So, if you’re looking to try out how Teh Tarik tastes in the form of an ice cream, feel free to give it a go.
