Another Local Gem We're Talking About

Foodies, may I have your attention this? Now we know lately we’ve been slacking on local good stuff, but that doesn’t mean we’ve lost our roots. No, we’re hunting for local gems for you guys, and this is the one we’re going to highlight today. Ever seen local “kopi peng” (iced coffee) with latte art? No joke we found this roadside stall that sells really good local coffee, if not better than those artisan, crafted coffees. It is the underrated Star Coffee at Lebuh Noordin.

Star Coffee at Lebuh Noordin:

Running its business for over 30 years, Star Coffee at Lebuh Noordin seems to be really quiet among the people. Is it because of the humble small setup by the roadside? Or maybe because of its nonstrategic, quiet street? Nevertheless, we thought Star Coffee at Lebuh Noordin deserves more love.

The menu is simple, two types of coffee, hot and cold; Local tea, milo and sum up with egg and toast. Their coffee, oh gawd, is so bold. Rich, dense and smooth to the throat, with strong aftertaste. It’s like what you could get at fancy cafes or restaurants, at a fraction of price.

Come by 2 p.m. to see the aunty in action with her latte art. Everything is traditional, no fancy machines or so. Milk is hand shaken in a small bottle to produce milk froth. And the magic touch, the signature “star” latte art. It might not be the perfect star, but hey still artsy considering the traditional method. (Pss: The coffee might be sweet to some, consider asking for less sugar if you want).
