During daylight, it is bustling morning market, and you can get everything you possibly need for your kitchen right here. At night, it is one of the busiest hawker center in Penang. The long, and almost narrow hawker center has a variety of local delicacies including really flavourful Curry Mee, Satay, Char Koay Teow, and Lok Lok. Another gem of this place is their street-style sushi. It is fresh, and cheap. You have to eat here!

2. Restoran Mohammed Raffee Nasi Kandar

Another gem in Pulau Tikus, Restoran Mohammed Raffee Nasi Kandar, or fondly known as Raffee, serves one of the best Nasi Kandar in Penang. The queue at this cosy restaurant can get really long at times because they have many tasty dishes for you to choose from! There’s chicken curry, squid curry, honey chicken, salted egg yolk, brinjal, and way more. You can enjoy your delicious Nasi Kandar indoors or outdoors!

3. Kedai Kopi New Cathay

A wonderful place to get some breakfast! Kedai Kopi New Cathay is one of the oldest hawker centers in Pulau Tikus. Everything is pretty good here including curry mee, hokkien mee, apom, koay chiap, and even the all-time favourite banana cakes! It is made with slices of bananas, and raisins. A friendly reminder that it is not that easy to find parking around that area, you’ll need a little patience.

4. Wang Thai Restaurant

Wang Thai is one of the best places to get your Thai food cravings fixed with your friends and family. The dim-lighted restaurant serves authentic Thai food. Served in rice and side dishes style, they have a lot of variety to offer. You can get deep-fried Thai-style kankung served with Thai chilli, Tom Yam Goong, with the options of red or white, and most importantly, the all-time favourite mango sticky rice! Yass!

The over the top decoration makes you feel like you have been transported into China with its red lanterns, and wooden carvings. Their steamboat comprise of many dishes that are mixed with dried chilli. If that is not enough for you, there’s many spicy sauces that you can dip your meat in!

6. See Leng Cafe

You need to come here for one particular food. Trust us, it is going to be good. We are talking about Bangkok Lane’s Mee Goreng. This is one of the dishes that made Pulau Tikus a famous place to visit. You can get yourself a sit at this small but mighty coffee shop and order a mee rebus with egg, and squid, or a mee goreng with squid. We promise that this dish will make your tummy super happy!

That is, the fabulous laksa! They serve one of the best that you can find right here in Penang. The soup is thick with generous amount of fish meat, and the combination of herbs, and spices is extraordinary!

Hands down of the best burger joints in Penang. Spade’s Burger makes burgers with super soft charcoal buns. Stepping into the store, you’ll notice a huge light box with their menu on it. There are so many things you can try from pork, chicken, mushroom, and even fish. Get a set meal and have it with fries, and there’s a few types for that, too! By the way, the sauces are pretty impressive.
