The Wine Shop is no ordinary restaurant 

The first step into The Wine Shop and you know it is already something different. It wouldn’t be a normal meal. It is going to be an experience altogether. To be surrounded by thousands of labels of wine feels wholesome. Of course, every wine bottle has their very own stories, and it is waiting for you to discover it. What a feeling to be able to taste the world in different ages in the heart of Georgetown!

A good word to describe The Wine Shop at Pulau Tikus would be cosy. Don’t get us wrong, the restaurant is huge with different dining areas, a counter showcasing all types of cheese and meat, and of course, a generous space to place all the wine you can imagine. And yet, a very good word to describe the place is cosy. We felt very welcome throughout our visit.

1. Diving Into Their Delicious Menu

The Wine Shop’s menu is just as promising as their selection of wine. The menu is extensive, covering all grounds including soup, salads, delis and cheese, starters, pasta, noodles, pizzas, mains, and desserts! We went crazy with their pork dishes ‘cause it sounds so good! Of course, we were right, and it went so well with red wine. Time to wine and dine!

1. Smoke Duck Pizza (RM 45)

Okay, doesn’t the name itself sounds amazing already Smoke Duck Pizza is made with perfectly smoke duck and it goes well with Merlot and Carbenet Sauvignon. The thin crust pizza has different layers of taste. You will get a little bit of sweet and savoury. We believe that their special ingredient is fig. The pizza is definitely perfect for sharing.

2. Glazed Iberico BBQ Pork Ribs (RM 73.50)

Oh, hello beautiful! It is so hard to say no to pork ribs! Glazed Iberico BBQ Pork Ribs is served with a generous amount of salad and mash potatoes. What do you pair it with? Shiraz, of course. The caramelised pork ribs are extremely tender. It doesn’t melt in your mouth, but it does have a good texture. Combine it with mash potatoes to have a good mouthful. Highly recommended!

3. Fried Korean Noodle (RM 21)

You wouldn’t believe it, but Fried Korean Noodle is one of their bestselling dishes in this restaurant. Comes with caramelised roast pork, the signature savoury noodles are best paired with Riesling. By the way, you can add on fried egg, Johnsonville sausage, and even roast pork. Caramelised roast pork tickles our tastebud in the right way. Juicy would be the right word to describe it.

4. 200gm Aged Beef Patty Burger (RM 89)

It is probably the most expensive burger you will get in Penang. Let us know if we are wrong. 200 Gram Aged Beef Patty Burger is under their special menu, and it is served with a side of salad, and fries. Is it worth the price? Yes! So, if you’re planning to try out really good aged beef patty, say no more. By the way, The Wine Shop offers steaks as well. It is something that you might want to venture into – steak and wine!
