Take a seat on the swinging chairs or the velvet chairs by the window! Feast your eyes on the beautiful fusion dishes and desserts. There are so many things to love about this spot. Where is this gorgeous cafe located?

Tucked in the corner of Lebuh King, Reve (read it backwards, and it is Ever), shares the same building as Space Disted Student Residence. With floor to ceiling windows, this cafe is hard to miss while you are driving by. Not only the interior is gorgeously decorated, but the exterior also has dangling flowers and leaves too! Who’s hungry? We are finally jumping into the menu!

Main Dishes Include Lobster Pasta & Har Cheong Kai Burger

1. Lobster Pasta

Let’s kick off the list with some good old cafe food, pasta. Unlike many cafes in Penang, Reve has elevated its al dente pasta by incorporating lobster as a source of protein. The pasta is nicely twirled into formation, with a generous amount of lobster on top. The secret formula of making such a delicious dish is by using homemade seafood oil that brings out the flavour of the pasta, and lobster.

2. Har Cheong Kai Burger

Fusion food tastes amazing when it is done right. If you haven’t heard of har cheong kai (sometimes spelled as gai), it is a Singaporean fried chicken dish cooked made with fermented shrimp paste. It tastes similar to our local belacan fried chicken. The meat is thick, tender, and juicy! Sandwiched between sesame buns are fresh vegetables and a secret sauce. Served with a side of fries and lemon mayo sauce. Recommended!

3. Nyonya Fish

Instead of pasta and burger, how about some rice? Don’t be fooled by the photograph, the portion is very filling. This dish features catch of the day, so remember to ask before you make an order! This is best eaten with a spoonful of rice, vegetables, and fish. Before chowing down, remember to pour the homemade sauce on the fish. Flavourful is the right word to describe it!

Desserts Include Durian Soufflé & Bomb Alaska Angku Kuih

1. Durian Soufflé

Wobble, wobble! Made with the best durian of all-time, Mao Shan Wang, this is a treat for all durian lovers out there. The wobbly soufflé is made to serve! So, be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes. The main dish itself isn’t very sweet, but the durian flavour is pretty overpowering. Made for sharing, it comes with two scoops of salted caramel ice-cream! Highly recommended!

2. Bomb Alaska Angku Kuih

Here’s something you don’t see, or hear every day! Another signature dessert, Bomb Alaska Angku Kuih comprise of an outer layer of meringue, angku kuih, and ice-cream in the core. It is a treat to see the floor staff firing up a spoonful of Martell before pouring over the dessert. It has a mixture of sweet and bitter notes, and it is extremely sticky. Honestly, it makes a good Instagram Story!

3. Tropical Coconut

It is petite but definitely packs a punch. Similar to Bomb Alaska Angku Kuih, this special dessert has different layers, too. On the outer layer, it is made of thin chocolate, followed by ice-cream, and marinated pineapple with spices in the core. Crack it open in half to watch the pineapple concoction oozing out before grabbing a bite! This tropical dessert surely makes you feel like you’re on a holiday!

4. Chocolate Sensation

Gather round for some chocolate goodness! Considering that this dish is made out of 70% dark chocolate, it is packed with antioxidants and minerals. On the plate, you will find a chocolate cake garnished with real flowers and thick chocolate cream. Paired with seasonal ice-cream flavours to add sweetness, this dish really lives up to its name, Chocolate Sensation.
