Previously known as Cozy in The Rocket, they have revamp and relocated to King Street. For ultimate pasta experience, look no further than Jaloux, known to serve one of the best pasta in Penang. From the preparation, you know they pour a lot of passion and cook with heart. Every pasta is made from scratch so please be a little more patient. #2 Soul cafe

This is also one of editor’s favorite. If you’re that kind of person who prefers a wide array of choices, Soul cafe would be your perfect choice. They serve a variety of pastas and unlike those traditional flavors, it’s fusion pastas. Our recommendation? Carbonara of course, strong, creamy with an egg yolk nestled in the middle. Their aglio olio is also Penang Foodie approved. Soul cafe is definitely one of the places that serves great pasta in Penang.

#3 The Book Sandwich Cafe

This cafe is no stranger to locals when it comes to lobster sandwich, they’re simply one of the best. With other mains being so outstanding, there’s one thing people often overlook. It’s the carbonara, and it’s no ordinary. Have you seen carbonara served with caramalised pork belly? No joke the combination is odd, but also the bomb. You’ll find yourself finishing the whole plate on your own, no chance of “one bite” nor sharing.

#4 Macallum Connoisseurs

Cr: @iamcassieong

First timers might miss this coming down from the highway due to the location, but Macallum could be one of the most spacious in Penang. It’s a place to get your daily meal fixed as they serve everything, from breakfast to desserts. So what is there to shout about? Their pastas of course, particularly carbonara (yes again). Unlike any other carbonara, this has an expensive touch to it— truffle. The combination is heavenly, truffle adds so much flavor to it, not overpowering but compliments the carbonara. Their other pastas are worth trying as well. Want some of everything but also great pasta in Penang? Macallum Connoisseurs.

#5 Il Bacaro

Cr: @suszipang

Housed in Campbell House, many might miss this place out due to their small signage and blinds covering it. Nevertheless, if you want to experience authentic Italian cuisine, don’t miss out Il Bacaro. Their pastas are pretty authentic and traditional. You can find ravioli and gnocchi here, also your favourite classics. Look out for “Chef’s Special,” they’re unique dishes and will surprise your taste buds. If you want some traditional pasta in Penang, be sure to check this place out.

#6 HH+ by Haven Harbour

If you’re a follower of Penang Foodie, you might just know we did a video on this cafe. Let’s be honest, you could taste quality from their food. Despite limited items on the menu, we want to share with you their mushroom alfredo. It’s vegetarian, and editor is not a fan of mushroom. She still loves it because of the balanced flavor, strong yet not too filling and the portion is just right. Their other items are real delicious as well.

All the ingredients go well together and for some Italians, Via Pre is a home out of home.

The very hyped cafe thanks to their carbonara, DCOVA serves some great pasta in Penang. Located in Bishop Street, pastas lovers are no stranger to this place. Besides carbonara, pesto and squid ink pastas are equally great and are loved by many. Be sure to pair your pasta with a cup of coffee, best of both world.

#9 Barista Cafe and Casa De Pizzeria

Cr: @barista_coffee_pizza_house

Barista cafe has a rustic charm to it and not many appreciate that. They’re highly rated for their pastas and pizzas. With that said, they’re Italian cuisines, but more inclined towards home-cooked style. Most of their pastas are in red sauce, if you’re a big fan of it, lucky you. Your meal is not complete in Pizzeria without trying their pizzas because that’s what they’re best at, making great pizzas.

#10 Pasta Togo by Qid Brand Venture

Sure Pasta Togo might not serve the best pasta in Penang nor it is authentic, but for a mere RM10 you get pretty decent pastas, and we would go back for more. Nothing fancy used, as the name suggests, simple cuisine. Through the preparation, you find passion and the meal is really hearty. They offer classic pastas like carbonara, bolognese and aglio olio. What’s best? They offer delivery services as well, but only to certain areas of Penang and it’s HALAL.
